Specimen Requirements
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Plasma
Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) tube 4 hours after drug ingestion. This will ensure concentrations have peaked. Spin down and send 1 mL of lithium heparin plasma refrigerated.
Note:
- Half-life is 1 to 3 hours.
- Indicate plasma on request form.
- Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Serum
Draw blood in a gold SST tube 4 hours after drug ingestion. This will ensure concentrations have peaked. Spin down and send 1 mL of serum refrigerated.
Note:
- Half-life is 1 to 3 hours.
- Indicate serum on request form.
- Label specimen appropriately (serum).
