Test Code CRCL24 Creatinine Clearance, Serum and Urine
Specimen Requirements
Serum and urine are required for this test. Blood specimen should preferably be drawn at the mid-point of the 24-hour period of urine collection but will be accepted if drawn within 24 hours before or after urine collection.
Serum or Plasma
Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s), serum gel tube(s), or green
top tube(s). Spin down and send 1 mL of serum refrigerated.
Note: 1. Indicate serum on request
form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).
Urine
10 mL from a 24-hour urine collection in a plastic,
screw-capped urine container supplied. No preservative. Refrigerate
specimen during collection, and send specimen refrigerated.
Note: 1. Patient’s height and
weight and 24-hour volume are required on request
form for processing.
2. Indicate urine on request form.
3. Label specimen appropriately (urine).
