Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 1 mL of serum refrigerated. Protect specimen from light. MUST AVOID HEMOLYSIS. 
Precautions:  This test should not be requested on patients who have recently received methotrexate or other folic acid antagonist.
