Testing Algorithm

Testing begins with HiV -1/-2 antigen and antibody screen by the immunochromatographic method. If the screen result is reavtive, then HiV-1-2 antibody  differentiation test is performed at Mayo Laboratories at an additional charge. Ith the HIV-1/-2 antibody differentiation test is negative for both HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies, or indeterminated/negative for HIV-1/-2 or indeterminate/indeterminate for HIV-1-2 antibody, then HIV-1 RNA detection and quantification is performed at an additional charge.
