Sickle SolubilityNote: 1. This is a screening test. All positive specimens should be tested by electrophoretic methods. This test will not differentiate between a heterozygous and homozygous state.
2. Testing for sickle cell disease or other hemoglobinopathies is not recommended on infants <4 months of age. Increased amounts of fetal hemoglobin interfere with testing methods.
