Specimen Requirements

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

Plasma
Draw blood in a green-top lithium heparin tube or a light green gel seperator tube (plasma). Spin down and send 1 mL of lithium heparin plasma refrigerated. Avoid exposure of specimen to atmosphere. Avoid hemolysis.
Note:  

• Indicate plasma on request form.
• Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

Serum
Draw blood in a plain, red top tube or a gold top tube. Spin down and send 1 mL of serum refrigerated. Avoid exposure of specimen to atmosphere. Avoid hemolysis.
Note:  

• Indicate serum on request form.
• Label specimen appropriately (serum).
